Customers that are using the Java 7 web browser plugin should consider immediate deployment of patches available at Java.com for this issue. Customers using Java release 6 or earlier are highly encouraged to move to Java 7 as Oracle is no longer releasing public updates for Java 6. Our previous guidance indicated that without the availability of a patch, installing another web browser with the Java plugin disabled would have a suitable remediation effect.

This is a signed integer overflow vulnerability in BytePackedRaster.verify() that allows bypassing of "dataBitOffset" boundary checks. Any of these vulnerabilities allows for remote code execution. User interaction is required for this exploit in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.
