Detailed Description |
| Business Impact: |
Web exploit toolkits are notorious for targeting browser and browser-related exploits like this vulnerability. Compromise of machines may lead to exposure of confidential information, loss of productivity, and further compromise. An attacker would need to entice a user to click a link to trigger this vulnerability.
Several public proof-of-concept exploits have been published. Although the published code does not provide reliable exploitation, X-Force has been able to develop reliable exploits for this issue, so it is likely only a matter of time before others are created and potentially published. |

| Technical Description: |
Microsoft Internet Explorer could allow a remote attacker to execute code, caused by an error in the Microsoft HTML Viewer (mshtml.dll). By persuading a victim to visit a specially-crafted CSS page, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using the getElementsByTagName() method to retrieve specific CSS/STYLE objects to corrupt memory and execute arbitrary code on the system. |
