Technical Description:

Apple Mac OS X is vulnerable to a buffer overflow in the UPnP IGD (Internet Gateway Device Standardized Device Control Protocol) code of the mDNSResponder implementation. By sending a specially-crafted packet to a vulnerable system, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges

Remediation:

Apply Apple Security Update 2007-005, available from the Apple Web site. See References.

If you cannot immediately install the patch, you can disable the affected component by using the following command:
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist

To re-enable the component use:
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist

Disabling this component disables many other features:
Printing with Auto Discovery, Airport and Airport Express, AirTunes, sharing iTunes music, calendars, address books, etc.
