Description:
TrACESroute is vulnerable to a local format string attack. A local attacker could supply a malicious format string to the program using the -T argument to execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges.

Remedy:
For SuSE Linux:
Upgrade to the latest nkita or nkitb package, as listed below. Refer to SuSE Security Announcement SuSE-SuSE-SA:2000:041 for more information. See References.

SuSE Linux 7.0 (PPC): nkitb-2000.10.5-0 or later

As a workaround, remove the setuid bit from TrACESroute.
