Description:

SHOUTcast Server is vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking of the icy-[any name] parameter. By sending an overly long string to the server using a vulnerable icy- parameter, a remote attacker with a valid DJ password could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary commands on the system with the same privileges as the SHOUTcast Server.

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of SHOUTcast (1.8.12 or later), when it becomes available from the SHOUTcast Web site. See References.
