vBulletin private.php cross-site scripting

Description:
vBulletin is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by the improper filtering of user-supplied input in the private.php script. A remote attacker could embed malicious script within HTML tags in a forum message, which would be executed in the victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting site, once the message is viewed. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.

Remedy:
Upgrade to the fixed version which is available for those customers who are part of the private beta group, as listed in the BugTraq Mailing List posting dated Wed May 14 2003 - 04:11:11 CDT . See References.
