Multiple vendor terminal emulator menuBar modification command execution

terminal-emulator-menu-modification (11416) The risk level is classified as MediumMedium Risk

Description:

Multiple vendor terminal emulator software packages, including rxvt could allow a remote or local attacker to execute commands on the system, caused by improper handling of malformed escape sequences when using the menuBar feature. Escape sequences are a series of characters that begin with the ASCII (0x1B) sequence and are followed by a series of arguments. If an attacker could inject malformed escape sequences into a user's terminal emulator session, the attacker could use the menuBar feature to modify menu options and execute commands on the system, once the modified menu is accessed.
