Apple QuickTime and Darwin Streaming Server RTSP DESCRIBE cross-site scripting
| quicktime-darwin-describe-xss (11405) |
Description:
Apple's QuickTime Streaming Server and Darwin's Streaming Server are vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper filtering of user-supplied log file information. A remote attacker could send a specially-crafted GET request to port 7070 containing malicious script embedded within the RTSP DESCRIBE method, which would be written to the server log file, and executed once an administrator views this file. This could allow the attacker to execute code under the security context of the administrator's Web browser session.
Platforms Affected:
- Apple, Darwin Streaming Server 4.1.2
- Apple, Mac OS X Server 10.2
- Apple, Mac OS X Server 10.2.1
