Description:

Apple's QuickTime Streaming Server and Darwin's Streaming Server are vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper filtering of input by the parse_xml.cgi script. A remote attacker could create a specially-crafted URL request to the parse_xml.cgi script containing script embedded within the file name parameter, which would be executed in the victim's Web browser within the security context of the Administration Server, once the link is clicked. An attacker could use this vulnerability to obtain the administrator's authentication cookie.

Remedy:

For Apple Mac OS X 10.2.3:
Apply the Mac OS X Server Update 10.2.4, as listed in AppleCare Knowledge Base Document 70171. See References.

Apply the Mac OS X Server Update Combo 10.2.4, as listed in AppleCare Knowledge Base Document 70172. See References.
