Description:

Apple's QuickTime Streaming Server and Darwin's Streaming Server could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the server, caused by improper validation of user-supplied input by the open() function in the Darwin and QuickTime Administration Server parse_xml.cgi script. If a remote attacker sends a specially-crafted HTTP GET request to the parse_xml.cgi with a CGI parameter value containing a pipe (|) character, the attacker could execute arbitrary commands on the system.

Remedy:

For Apple Mac OS X 10.2.3:
Apply the Mac OS X Server Update 10.2.4, as listed in AppleCare Knowledge Base Document 70171. See References.

Apply the Mac OS X Server Update Combo 10.2.4, as listed in AppleCare Knowledge Base Document 70172. See References.
