NOD32 for UNIX long pathname buffer overflow

Description:

NOD32 is vulnerable to a buffer overflow. By creating a file with a pathname of more than 500 characters, a local attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with root privileges, once NOD32 scans the file.

Platforms Affected:

  • ESET, NOD32 for UNIX 1.012 and prior

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of NOD32 (1.359 or later), available from the Eset Web site. See References.
