MySQL my.ini "datadir" parameter buffer overflow

Description:
MySQL is vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused my improper bounds checking of the "datadir" parameter in the my.ini MySQL configuration file. By supplying an overly long value in the "datadir" parameter in the my.ini file, a local attacker could overflow a buffer and execute code on the system with SYSTEM level privileges, once the MySQL service is restarted.

Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest production release of MySQL (3.23.52 or later), available from the MySQL Web site. See References.
