Description:

Cacti could allow a remote attacker to execute commands on the system, caused by an input validation vulnerability in the Cacti console. A remote attacker with Cacti administrative privileges could enter specially-crafted input strings using the "Data Input" option in the console mode, which could allow the attacker to execute commands on the system.

  • Cacti, Cacti 0.8.6
  • Debian, Debian Linux 3.0

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Cacti (0.6.8a or later), available from the raXnet Web site. See References.

For Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 (woody):
Upgrade to the latest cacti package (0.6.7-2.1 or later), as listed in DSA-164-1. See References.

For other distributions:
Contact your vendor for upgrade or patch information.
