Cisco VPN 3000 series concentrators with the XML filter enabled could allow unauthorized access

cisco-vpn-xml-filter (10023) The risk level is classified as MediumMedium Risk

Description:

Cisco VPN 3000 series with the XML filter configuration enabled could allow a remote attacker to bypass security and gain unauthorized access to the network. If the XML filter configuration has been enabled, the "HTTPS on Public Inbound (XML-Auto)(forward/in)" rule is added to the public filter and protocol value is incorrectly set to "ANY" with the destination port set as "443". This could allow a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to the network since the concentrator would then permit any protocol to access the concentrator through any port.

Platforms Affected:

  • Cisco, VPN 3000 Concentrator 2.0
  • Cisco, VPN 3000 Concentrator 2.5.2.A
  • Cisco, VPN 3000 Concentrator 2.5.2.B
