This signature detects failed attempts to log in to an FTP server, such as with an invalid username or password. Large numbers of events of this type can indicate attempts to brute force account names on the FTP server and the underlying operating system.
This represents a possible failed attempt by an intruder to gain unauthorized access to an FTP server. Take note of the destination address of the event (which is the attacking system), and any associated FTP username or password events that might give clues as to the identity of the attacker.
