How do I prevent an alert from triggering?

This article applies to: BlackICE Defender.

SUMMARY

Some customers experience regular false positives when using certain applications on their own machines. The product can be configured to ignore these alerts.

DETAILS

All the product's configuration is contained in a file called "blackice.ini" typically located in the directory c:\Program Files\Network ICE\BlackICE. The configuration screen changes some of the parameters in this file automatically, other alerts can be added/changed with a text editor.

To cause the system to ignore certain alerts, you will have to edit the file manually. The best way to edit the file is with notepad. The following lines should be added to the end of the file.

To cause the system to ignore a single alert "issue", you would add a line like the following:

This example causes the system to ignore the intrusion

You can add multiple ids to a single line, or add multiple similar lines.
