proxy server

advICE :Reference :Glossary : proxy server
A server sitting between the internal network and the Internet. It provides internet connectivity by moving files from the Internet to the internal network. It is different than a router, because it doesn't route packets, but instead transfers entire files. It is sometimes considered a type of firewall, because it can provide strict access controls.
