The colloquial term 'phauna' refers to hostile software, which often resembles animal life (fauna). Like animal life, the software is very aggressive in staying alive, and creating new copies of itself.

    Programs that masquarade as normal software, but instead contain code that compromises the system.

    Segments of code that propogate themselves by searching out other software and attaching to it.
  • Worm (67)
    Programs that attempt to break into other computers in order to run copies of themselves.
  • Hostile Applet (18)
    Programs (Java, ActiveX) automatically loaded when a user visits a web site that try to compromise the user's system.
