Trojans, named after the "Trojan Horse" of Greek mythology, are programs that masquarade as normal programs, but instead contain code designed to break into a system. Examples: - An e-mail warning that contains an anti-virus scanner, but really contains a program to steal passwords
- Virus type code that is added to a commericial program, then posted to websites pretending to be from the original vendor.
