Port 1494 Citrix ICA Protocol

Citrix ICA (TCP)

Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) is a remote terminal protocol used by Citrix MetaFrame and MetaFrameXP software. Citrix MetaFrame products are add-ons to Microsoft Terminal Server (NT4) or Terminal Services (W2K) that enhance and expand the core thin-client functionality.

The ICA protocol was not licensed to Microsoft. Only certain aspects of the technology such as the "MultiWin" technology that Citrix developed were licensed to Microsoft. Microsoft used that in conjunction with their own thin-client protocol (RDP) to develop their thin-client technology which was originally "Windows NT 4.0, Terminal Server Edition" and is now know as "Terminal Services" under Windows 2000.

Other names: Citrix MetaFrame, WinFrame
