PGP (Pretty-Good-Privacy) is an encryption system developed by Phil Zimmerman for use in the public domain. Its goal was to produce strong encryption that anybody could use and which has no backdoors because the source is publicly available. PGP can be used in e-mail encryption, file encryption, message signing and so on.
