S-MIME |
The other popular e-mail standard (other than PGP). In order to use S-MIME, you must first get a "certificate". There are many freeware and commercial sources for certificates. You must then save the "private" portion in a secure location so that it cannot be lost; otherwise, if someone steals it, they can impersonate you. If you lose it, then you will not be able to read your e-mail.
