Uninstalling BlackICE PC Protection

 

Introduction

Before you remove BlackICE, be sure to record your license key and store it in a safe place. You must re-enter your license key when you reinstall BlackICE.

Note: When you uninstall BlackICE, your system is no longer protected from intrusions.

Click here to download the BlackICE™ uninstaller program. This program will uninstall any version of BlackICE, but it will also delete all files and folders in the folder that BlackICE is installed in. If you installed BlackICE in its default folder, this program will work as expected. If non-BlackICE programs or files are stored in the default BlackICE folder, move them before running this program or they will be deleted too. If you installed BlackICE into any folder other than its default folder, your safest option for uninstalling is to use Add/Remove Programs.

Uninstalling BlackICE from the Windows Control Panel

To uninstall BlackICE from the Windows Control Panel:

Click Start Settings Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

Locate the BlackICE program, and then click one of the following options based on your platform:

On Windows 98, Windows Me, or Windows NT, click Add/Remove.
On Windows 2000 or Windows XP, click Change/Remove. The uninstall program asks you to confirm that you want to delete the program files.
Click Yes.

Do you want to remove the remaining intrusion files and delete the directory?
If yes, click Yes.
If no, click No.

Click Finish.

The system removes BlackICE from your computer.

Unable to uninstall via the Windows Control Panel:

If you are unable to remove BlackICE PC Protection from your computer using the Windows Add/Remove Programs utility, you can use the biremove utility. The biremove.exe program deletes all the files in the BlackICE directory.

Important: Use the biremove utility only if you are unable to remove BlackICE PC Protection through the Windows Add/Remove utility.

Uninstalling BlackICE using the biremove utility

To remove BlackICE PC Protection using the biremove utility:

Locate the biremove.exe file on the BlackICE CD or in the BlackICE folder on your computer drive. You may also download the file here.

Important: Before proceeding, biremove.exe, back up any files in the BlackICE folder you do not want to delete.

Double-click biremove.exe. The system starts the biremove utility.

Delete the BlackICE directory from your system.
